About DataPeek Facts
DataPeek Facts is an independent data research initiative dedicated to making official US government statistics accessible to everyone. We build free, specialized web tools that transform dense public datasets into intuitive, searchable platforms anyone can use — no technical expertise required.
Our Mission
The US federal government publishes an extraordinary volume of high-quality statistical data every year. From the Bureau of Labor Statistics to the Census Bureau, from CMS.gov to the USDA, these agencies produce datasets that are publicly funded, methodologically rigorous, and freely available under open data mandates. The problem is access: most of this data is locked inside dense CSV files, complex API endpoints, and multi-hundred-page PDF reports that require specialized knowledge to navigate.
Our mission is to bridge that gap. We believe that public data should be publicly usable, and that every American should be able to look up salary benchmarks, compare cost of living, research colleges, check nutrition facts, or estimate solar savings without needing a data science degree.
What We Have Built
Today, DataPeek Facts operates 18 specialized platforms spanning salary data, cost of living, housing and rent, ZIP code demographics, college comparisons, healthcare costs, elder care, electricity rates, solar energy, food nutrition, allergen data, international trade, shipping costs, baby names, vocabulary, property taxes, and unit conversion calculators. Together, these platforms contain over 200,000 individual data pages, each sourced from verified federal and state government datasets.
Every platform is free to use with no registration required. We do not paywall data, restrict access, or require users to create accounts. Government data belongs to the public, and the tools built on that data should be equally accessible.
Our Commitment to Accuracy
Data accuracy is non-negotiable. Every number on our platforms traces back to an official source. We document our data processing methodology on our methodology page, clearly label data vintages and source agencies on every page, and never fill gaps with estimates or projections. When we derive values such as cost-of-living indices or solar ROI projections, we document the calculation methodology so users can independently verify our work.
We update our databases when new government releases become available and maintain automated monitoring to ensure refresh cycles stay current. Transparency is not a feature — it is a foundational principle.
